Supreme Court upholds photo ID law for voters in Indiana

The Supreme Court Monday upheld the Indiana photo ID law by a six to three vote.

The law "is amply justified by the valid interest in protecting 'the integrity and reliability of the electoral process,'" Justice John Paul Stevens said in an opinion that was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Anthony Kennedy

Justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and David Souter dissented.
"We cannot conclude that the statute imposes 'excessively burdensome requirements' on any class of voters," Stevens said.

I say that this law does not put any burden on anyone at any monetary level of income. IDs are available at little or no cost. Any party will give rides to the DMV to those who need one and it only takes a little effort on the voters part. So I applaud the Supreme Court for their decision on upholding this issue.
