Some are saying that the has tax should be suspended but I ask if this will really help. I don’t think that cutting out the Federal and State tax will help us the much. Its not the taxes that are eating into our pockets on this one. If you take all taxes off of gasoline, it would still cost over $3.00 a gallon.
I still go back to the American consumer on this one. If demand for fuel was not as great, the price would not be where it is today. It still amazes me on how many folks sit in the drive thru, in line while no one is inside counter. I have seen the drive thru line wrap all the way around the building.
Even in the Indianapolis star editorial the writing says this.
“ Economic principles, however, can't be ignored. Suspending the sales tax to lower the price at the pump likely would encourage further consumption, which in turn drives up gas prices.”
Until the price gets so high that the American people feels that they need to do something about this, The price will continue to climb.

why not force the oil companies to build another refinery. The amount of subsidies they get is ungodly. no refinery no subsidy, 158 billion in profits. not a bad gig if you can get it.
I agree that the oil companies are making to much money. And that there should be no subsidies paid for by the taxpayers. But, my main point is until the American public puts some kind of protest on thier buying, they will keep raising the price. As I have said before, if everyone would cut down like I have, you would see the prices drop. But its hard to get the public togather to do anything these days.
I agree with you. If we keep buying big vehicles, and being too lazy to walk down the street, gas will continue to rise. If they remove the gas tax, then we will get taxed elsewhere to make up for it. It's a no-win.
