Meeting on Crime.

Last night I attended a meeting on the far Eastside of Indianapolis where Mayor Ballard spoke. Some interesting fact came to light doing that meeting.
The far Eastside now has become one of the worst crime areas in the city. Counselor Brown held the meeting at the Community Alliance building located at 38th and Post Rd.
Scott Newman also attended and spoke. He seems to get a little upset doing his speech about crime in this area. No I would say that he was mad. There was a brief moment when a young man asked Mr. Newman where he was supposed to find a job. I would have like to ask this young person if he graduated from high school or has done anything else to better himself for a job.

What can we do about crime in our area? Many things can be done by the citizen of any area where they live.

Take a stand. Join or start a neighborhood crime watch. A neighborhood watch is neighbors helping neighbors. They are extra eyes and ears for reporting crime and helping neighbors.
Don’t be afraid to call 911 if you see something you think is happening in your neighborhoods. Give information to the investigating officers and be ready to testify in court. We all are concerned about crime but if you are not willing to come forth as stated, who is going to do it? How is the problem going to be solved? Crime will never end if we say we don’t want to get involved ourselves.

You can call 327-3811 for non-emergencies. Examples include your house or car was broken into but it is not in progress: Accident with no injuries: vandalism: and so forth.
