Wind Farm coming to Fowler, Indiana

Indianapolis Power & Light Co. has reached an agreement with enXco to create the Hoosier Wind Project, a 100-megawatt wind farm near Fowler that is projected to go into operation next year.

Phase 1 of the project, developed by BP Alternative Energy and Dominion, will produce 400 megawatts of electricity and is expected to be operational by the end of the year.

Phase 2 is expected to generate an additional 350 megawatts of power, and construction could begin as early as next year. When fully operational the project will generate enough electricity to power more than 200,000 average homes.

Marc Lewis, a vice president with Indiana Michigan Power said that his company has agreed to purchase 200 megawatts of electricity from the wind farm.

Fowler Ridge Wind Farm is expected to create more than 300 jobs for construction workers to erect the turbines and approximately 50 full-time positions.

I have treid to find more info on residential wind power. Seems they all want to talk but wont give a ball park figure for a unit. Rumors are 1000 bucks a kw. Plus if you had hoped to get off the net an interconnect with the power company is required
