State to speed tax relief checks

But don’t look in your mailbox because it’s not to the taxpayers, it to the counties.

“The advance is meant to ease a cash-flow problem many counties are facing. The state hopes federal disaster relief funds will come to counties in the coming weeks and months, replacing any of the money spent on such things as road and sewer repairs and law enforcement overtime.
Every county will be getting a check. Marion County's share of the money is more than $99 million.”

“Sending the money early will not affect homeowners' property tax bills, which still will be reduced. Instead, it simply puts cash into the hands of counties now, while they wait to see what disaster relief they might get later in the year.”

I ask when my reduced property tax bill is going to arrive. The one I got was about 30% higher then my 2006 bill.
